The Special Ones Who Live On In Our Hearts
ROSASHARN TOM'S WATER TABBY++*S++B
Our Very First Herdsire March 2, 2002 - December 18, 2012
Tabby at Age Ten, Still Full of Himself as an Old Man!
Many years ago, at the very beginning of our goat endeavor, we lucked out with the purchase of our first herdsire, ROSASHARN TOM'S WATER TABBY+*S++B, one of the last two sons born from the pairing of AGS National Champions (no ADGA for Nigerians at that time!), ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S and ARMCH Goodwood Water Lilly 2*D "VG". Tabby went on to sire many beautiful does and handsome bucks who continue, in turn, to produce quality offspring with his signature style: long-bodied, sharp, and refined. After a long and fruitful life as our main man, Water Tabby passed on in December 2012, a few months short of age eleven. Although we believed Tabby would live forever--he was full of himself the entire autumn season!--he slowly lost the spark of life, dying peacefully in his sleep at the onset of winter. We are comforted by the thought that we filled every day of Tabby's life--from babyhood through old age--with love (and lots of pampering.) Rest in peace, Old Man. You will be forever missed.

Tabby's genetics were precious, with roots in some of the most influential foundation lines of the Nigerian breed, and given that distinctiveness, we felt very fortunate to have had Tabby here as our primary herdsire. He was one of the last two buck kids born of the ARMCH Tom Thumb/ARMCH Water Lilly cross, so the relative rarity of his lines made him even more special.
Consistent with his name, which means a multi-coloured fabric, Water Tabby was a flashy black and rust buckskin heavily broken with white. He was a small and refined buck with a long, level topline and nicely angled rear legs. Tabby's front end showed excellent chest width and tight shoulders. He had wonderful dairy character and always passed on his wide ribbing and flat bones to his progeny. Tabby was also as sweet as he was handsome, another special quality he universally passed on to his kids.
TX TWINCREEKS BUTTERFLY DANCE
April 29, 2006 - March 1, 2017
""Good Night My Queen...Fly Free"
TX TWINCREEKS BUTTERFLY DANCE (MCH Pecan Hollow Willy's Dance Fever*S x MCH/CH Twin Creeks WB Madame Butterfly "VG")--DOB: 4/06--This spoiled little girl is just as beautiful as her dam, a doe that we have long admired from afar. Being so spoiled, Butterfly absolutely refused to stand nicely for her yearling photo, hence the "stretch"! In addition to her personality, we love Butterfly's dairy qualities--see her fine boning and the loose folds of skin--and escutcheon width.

We loved this doe, who over the years, had become one of the foundations of the Dawnland herd. The pedigree borne by Butterfly Dance--with her dual-championed dam, Madame Butterfly, being the last daughter of the famed Twink's Pixie--was impressive, and we considered ourselves very blessed to have had the opportunity to purchase her. Other than her strident voice and spoiled, affectionate nature, what was most pronounced about Butterfly was her dairy character. She was a long-boned doe showing levelness and length of body, width front and back, huge well-placed teats, and tons of loose, fine skin. And, when she wasn't singing demands, Butterfly also carried herself with an elegant bearing worthy of her genetics.
We were very pleased with Butterfly's first freshening--lovely twin girls and a very capacious udder, widely attached all over, high in the rear, smooth in the fore, with good-sized, easily-milked plumb teats. However, with her second freshening, Butterfly really outdid herself--triplet does and an even better udder (see the photos above.) 2010 brought another set of triplet girls...What a doe!!! And so the process continued..Easy kiddings, beautiful and vigorous kids, an udder that stood the test of time. With the passage of years, Butterfly continued to be an all-around favorite: an easy-going, loving animal who passed her friendly personality on to all of her kids. We consider Butterfly to have been the cornerstone of the Dawnland breeding program and she is greatly missed. Good night, my queen.
