Each of our goats is very special and we seek special homes for them. Because goats are herd animals, we require that a new home offers the companionship of another goat. We also require a secure fenced yard and an accessible shelter. Good nutrition is essential to the health of goats, and a prospective owner must be able to provide fresh water, high quality leafy hay, a grain ration, loose minerals, and baking soda. Although a well-cared-for goat is a hardy creature, a yearly vet visit is necessary for vaccine updates: tetanus, clostridium, Bo-Se/selenium (in deficient areas, like ours), and rabies. Your goats will also require periodic trimming of their hooves as well as worming medication to minimize parasites. And, in return for your TLC, your goats will provide you with years of affection and entertainment!
QUESTIONS TO ASK...
When considering the purchase of a goat--for either a pet, future show prospect, or milker--it's helpful to ask the following questions:
Does the breeder have access to an experienced large animal vet and will that vet give a positive reference regarding herd management?
Are herd practices in place to help to prevent the initiation or spread of disease (i.e. quarantine of new animals; blood testing as indicated for new adults entering the herd; purchase of breeding stock from herds that carefully document health issues; written health records for herd members)?
Does the environment of the barnyard--light; clean pens, feeders, and waterers; dry, non-muddy outdoor lounging areas--promote health?
Are kids active and curious and do they look healthy, with shiny coats and clear eyes, clean noses and bottoms?
Will the breeder provide on-going support and education about their stock as "little bumps in the road appear"? Is the breeder knowledgeable about local associations, clubs, and on-line resources that may be helpful for beginning goat owners?
How well does the breeder know the personalities, as well as conformational qualities, of herd members and are these factors considered in best matching a future owner with the proper goat(s)?

THE FINE PRINT
Reservations/Payment Pricing Policy Health Guarantees
RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT.......While we do not accept pre-paid prenatal reservations on kids, we do keep an informal list of "kid requests". Interested parties will then be notified when the appropriate kids are born. It is our feeling that the best matches between homes and goats are made when the purchaser first has a chance to review all available information pertaining to the goat(s) of choice before committing to a sales agreement.
For the purchase of an "already born" kid or an adult goat, we require half the purchase price as a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. Additionally, the purchaser assumes full financial responsibility for: the cost of the animals, the required health exam/certificate, veterinary testing, the shipping crate(s), and transport. The balance must be paid in full before the goat(s) leave our farm, unless special arrangements are made beforehand. We are very flexible and will work to design a creative payment plan if needed. In consideration of our herd's biosecurity, we may not be able to accept back goats. However, we do ask that customers contact us first for re-purchase of any breeding stock that we have sold.
2019 PRICING.....KIDS ARE BOTTLE FED FROM BIRTH AND READY TO GO AT EIGHT-TEN WEEKS
*WETHERS (FIXED MALES) --$175 each *PET QUALITY/HOMESTEAD QUALITY DOELINGS (No Papers)--$300/up. *REGISTERABLE BREEDING/SHOW QUALITY KIDS--$400/up. *ADULT BREEDING STOCK--Price determined individually, with the following factors taken into account: age, pedigree, general conformation, mammary system quality/potential. Pricing for registered adult animals starts at $350.
HEALTH....... We cannot be responsible for the health of our goats once they leave our premises. While we will make every effort to ease the transition for both goat(s) and purchaser(s), the stress of moving can have unpredictable effects.
MATURE HEIGHT AND CONFORMATION.......We believe that breeding goats is an art. Although we try to match sire/dam pairings to bring out the best in progeny, there is no scientific way to predict the results. Sometimes a funky-looking kid happens despite the best parental genetics! Therefore, we do not offer any guarantees as to height or mature conformation.
REPRODUCTIVE SOUNDNESS.......We will replace a registered breeding animal that is vet-certified as infertile: for does, infertility is limited to freemartin or hermaphrodite status; for bucks, infertility must be shown by an inability to settle at least one doe within six months of departure from our farm or by semen analysis within six months of the sale date. Prior to replacement, the goat's registration papers must be returned to us and we will negotiate placement of the animal as well. Transport and associated expenses for a goat replacement are the responsibility of the recipient.
ADULT STOCK FOR SALE
Our goats are spoiled rotten and we seek like-minded purchasers. Occasionally we have an "unadvertised" goat, or two, waiting for that special right home to come along. Inquiries are always welcome. E-MAIL US--Click HERE.
