Breeding For An Elegant Dairy Doe That Dances Like a Ballerina and Milks Like a Cow
OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR A "GOOD" GOAT HOME
Dawn Land Farm Goats Will Never Be Sold at Auction Nor Used For Meat
FOR AFFECTION...AMUSEMENT...COLOURFUL PASTURE ORNAMENTS..."DO-ABLE" SUBURBAN LIVESTOCK...SWEET MILK...TEACHING HUMAN KIDS THE JOYS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARING FOR LIVING CREATURES, NIGERIAN DWARF DAIRY GOATS ARE TOPS!
In return for your TLC, Nigerians will provide years of unconditional love and entertainment. Owning goats--with the supervision of helpful adults!--teaches children to responsibly care for other living creatures as well as providing them with a fun opportunity to participate in friendly competition through showing.
Each of our goats is very special and we seek special homes for them. Because goats are herd animals, we require that a new home offers the companionship of another goat. We also require a secure fenced yard and an accessible shelter. Good nutrition is essential to the health of goats, and a prospective owner must be able to provide fresh water, high quality leafy hay, a grain ration, loose minerals, and baking soda. Although a well-cared-for goat is a hardy creature, a yearly vet visit is necessary for vaccine updates: tetanus, clostridium, Bo-Se/selenium (in deficient areas, like ours), and rabies. Your goats will also require periodic trimming of their hooves as well as worming medication to minimize parasites. And, in return for your TLC, your goats will provide you with years of affection and entertainment!

Reservations/Payment Pricing Policy Health Guarantees
RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT.......While we will not be accepting pre-paid prenatal reservations on 2017 kids, we do plan to keep an informal list of "kid requests". Interested parties will then be notified when the appropriate kids are born. It is our feeling that the best matches between homes and goats are made when the purchaser first has a chance to review all available information pertaining to the goat(s) of choice before committing to a sales agreement.
For the purchase of an "already born" kid or an adult goat, we require half the purchase price as a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. Additionally, the purchaser assumes full financial responsibility for: the cost of the animals, the required health exam/certificate, veterinary testing, the shipping crate(s), and transport. The balance must be paid in full before the goat(s) leave our farm, unless special arrangements are made beforehand. We are very flexible and will work to design a creative payment plan, if needed.
PLEASE NOTE: DEPOSITS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED IF THE BUYER CANCELS THE SALE. 2017 PRICING.....KIDS ARE BOTTLE FED FROM BIRTH...AND READY TO GO AT EIGHT-TEN WEEKS...
*WETHERS (FIXED MALES) --$150 each *PET QUALITY/HOMESTEAD QUALITY DOELINGS (No Papers)--$250/up. *REGISTERABLE BREEDING/SHOW QUALITY KIDS--$350/up. *ADULT BREEDING STOCK--Price determined individually, with the following factors taken into account: age, pedigree, general conformation, mammary system quality/potential. Pricing for registered adult animals starts at $300.
HEALTH....... We cannot be responsible for the health of our goats once they leave our premises. While we will make every effort to ease the transition for both goat(s) and purchaser(s), the stress of moving can have unpredictable effects. In consideration of our herd's biosecurity, we may not be able to accept back goats. However, we do ask that customers contact us first for re-purchase of any breeding stock that we have sold.
MATURE HEIGHT AND CONFORMATION.......We believe that breeding goats is an art. Although we try to match sire/dam pairings to bring out the best in progeny, there is no scientific way to predict the results. Sometimes a funky-looking kid happens despite the best parental genetics! Therefore, we do not offer any guarantees as to height or mature conformation.
REPRODUCTIVE SOUNDNESS.......We will either replace any breeding animal that is vet-certified as infertile. Prior to replacement or refund, the goat's registration papers must be returned to us. Transport and associated expenses for a goat replacement are the responsibility of the recipient.
KIDS LOVE KIDS--2006
AMONG THE MANY REASONS TO OWN GOATS IS THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS.....

IN MEMORY OF SNICKET-February 2005 to December 2005-His Simple Ways Touched Our Hearts Forever
Snicket was a miracle baby, a tiny afterthought arriving after the birth of vigorous siblings. It was only the love and devotion of his breeder that saved him and nursed him through his early babyhood. When Snicket arrived here, it soon became apparent that he had substantial delays in his development. However, it didn't take long to fall in love with Snicket's unique mannerisms. He had a funny stiff-legged gait that he used, at full speed, to greet any visitor (especially the ones that he thought would feed him!) Snicket also learned to run under the bellies of his penmates, a feat made easier by his miniscule size, in order to avoid any unpleasantness from his peers. Snicket had unusual eating and drinking manners too. Every sip of his water was first preceded by a foot dunk in the bucket!
Snicket's "life lessons" came later, towards the end of his short stay here. One afternoon, the major goatkeeper and her teenage son were casually discussing the relative intelligence of the goats in the Dawn Land herd. The major goatkeeper suggested that Snicket had earned a place near the bottom of the bell curve. In the indignant manner that only teens can display, the goatkeeper's son protested: "But Mom, Snicket's not stupid! He's a lot smarter than most of our goats! He's smarter because he uses all of his brain to do what he does, and that's what being smart means!"
SNICKET WAS A ONE OF A KIND GOAT... His unique mannerisms included an unusual drinking style: each sip preceded by a foot dunk! In this picture, we had elevated the pail to keep his water clean.
DAWNLAND FAL WUNDERKIND (" Wonder Child")
"Tiny" reminds us-- in our more jaded moments--that miracles really do happen!
Our Miracle Girl! Born a few days early at 1.2 pounds, "Tiny" lay undiscovered under barn bedding for at least four hours until one of our Anatolians woke her up by digging.
Household Anatolian, Bo, caring for Tiny. This photo shows her on Day Two; by her fourth day of life, her front legs had straightened and she was able to drink most of her milk from a bottle (10 cc's per feeding!)
Day Six--Tiny Now Weighs 1/2 Ounce MORE Than the Can of Peaches Being Served For Supper!
At Around Two Weeks, Tiny Has Discovered the Joys of Body Surfing the Resident Golden Retriever Mama.
At a Little Less Than Four Weeks of Age, "Tiny" Now Weighs 5.2 Pounds! Pictured is Her Pre-Dawn Walk With Bo, Our Household ASD, on Memorial Day Weekend.
WE ARE A SMALL FAMILY FARM EMPHASIZING EDUCATION, COMMITMENT TO THE HUMANE AND INDIVIDUALIZED CARE OF OUR ANIMALS, AND RESPECT FOR THE NATURAL LANDSCAPE THAT SURROUNDS US...
