DAWNLAND TABBY'S MOHAWK (Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby++*S++B x Lost Valley TB Checotah) We lost Mohawk quite suddenly to an aggressive fungal pneumonia in Spring 2015 but we have retained a 2015 son out of Dawnland Curry's Vocalise (a TX Twincreeks Butterfly Dance daughter) as well as multiple daughters to carry on his legacy.

Curry at Four Years. We are quite pleased with how Curry has matured and believe him to be one of the best Tiger L sons to come out of Rosasharn. He is a super sharp buck, full of dairy character, and is prepotent for passing those traits to his offspring. His first daughter to freshen here in 2010 has a lovely udder, very typical of what his sire produced: high and wide in the rear, soft as silk, and productive for three pounds a day.

PROGENY IN HERD: DOES: Dawnland Curry's Vocalise (2008) Curry is our beloved Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S's "money in the bank" and his valuable genetics are most welcome. The product of an ARMCH Rosasharn Tiger L++*S "E" grandfather/granddaughter line breeding, by our calculations, Curry is 75% Tiger L/Water Lilly--a very good thing indeed! Tiger has been a pivotal sire at Rosasharn, improving the udders of every doe to whom he has been bred, and particularly excelling at producing high and wide rear udders.
Like most of the Rosasharn boys, Curry started out small, refined, and somewhat effeminate, and required several years of maturation to reach his manly glory. But what a buck he has grown up to be! Curry just might be one of the nicest Tiger L sons to leave Rosasharn: sharp, sharp, sharp and consistently throwing his exceptional dairy character to his kids. We've retained two Curry daughters so far, and they are both "cookie cutter" for elegant style. As well, his first daughter to freshen here, Vocalise, has a well-attached udder very characteristic of what Curry's sire produced, with an especially high and wide rear. We are very pleased with Curry and predict that he will have an increasingly significant impact upon our breeding program as our beloved Water Tabby*S ages out of breeding.
PAINTED PEPPER RJ SOLEIL*S*B
Son of our Most Credentialed Water Tabby+*S Daughter
SOLD Son to our deceased SG Rosasharn's Water Tabby++*S daughter, Zing*D 1*M AR, sired by a Rosasharn's Eclipse son. His dam had large, easily milked teats, a strong medial, and a full high rear. A very sweet, easy to handle, and correct boy (should be strong for LA) who passes on his correct general conformation, including feet and legs, as well as nice large milkable teats. Soleil comes from genetics notable for longevity and production.

PROGENY IN HERD: DOES: Dawnland PPS Sun Singer (2013) and Dawnland PPS Lululemon (2014) Being a son of our most credentialed Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby+*S daughter, SG Zing*D 1*M AR, sired by an SG/ARMCH Rosasharn's Eclipse 2*D "E" 2*M EEEV 91 son, Soleil is a very valued man in our buck pen. His genetics reflect a crossing of Rosasharn with Twin Creeks, a combination that we have found to be very successful in producing some of the best animals in the Dawnland herd. Like his dam, Soleil stands on perfect legs/feet, possesses tons of "hands-on" dairy character, and has an especially wide and flat rump. He's also high-withered, long-bodied and level, strengths that his grandsire Tabby consistently passed on. We are just starting to see Soleil offspring and we couldn't be more pleased with what he is producing: all of his kids are maturing as sharp, level, and correct. And he has a very competitive first udder to boast as well--see his daughter, Mayflower, at Sweet Garden Farm in Maryland: CLICK HERE.

Tabby's 2009 son and primary replacement, Mohawk looks as good on paper as he does in real life. He is the product of some of the most influential Nigerians out there: three grandparents being AGS National Champions--ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S "E", ARMCH Goodwood Water Lilly 2*D "VG", and ARMCH Lost Valley Tae-Bo+*S "E"+B, and the fourth a Top Ten Milker and dual champion--ARMCH/GCH Lost Valley Sundancer 2*D 1*M "E". Mohawk has taken the best of both parents--Tabby's length of body and refinement along with Checotah's width, body capacity, and strength--and combined them into a very uphill and handsome fellow. Given the strong linebreedings in his pedigree--most especially through the Kingwood/It'l Do's Chalktah cross--we expect him to be very consistent in delivering quality udders. His first daughters first freshened here in Spring 2015 with absolutely lovely mammary systems.
Also in the tradition of their many female antecedents, Mohawk's two full sisters--his twin here and a younger sister at Kyeema Ridge in Michigan (2015 LA-90 EEVV)--have freshened with (virtually identical!) udders quite on par with our expectations: wide overall areas of attachment, strong medials, and perfectly centered plumb teats (a rarity in the ND world.) Hoping that Mohawk too will meet the quality challenge of his pedigree, we are continuing to pair him with many of our most promising does.

SG DAWNLAND TABBY'S ZING*D 1*M AR 2008 LA--88 VEEV Zing died peacefully in the barn on May 13th, 2014, three days short of her eleventh birthday...
Zing is the most stubborn of our seniors and will probably never see the show ring, as she hates being positioned and prefers to walk on her own terms. This photo, taken at six years, does not show her true qualities; she's a very elegant girl with a long neck, soft and loose skin, excellent feet and legs. Zing's not uddered up in this picture, but she has a collapsible udder with a strong medial and big, fat, plumb teats. Though not a big producer volume-wise, she's a longterm steady milker.

Back in 2003, Zing and her sisters were our first Water Tabby daughters to be born, so she holds a very special place in our hearts. For several years before her return here, Zing lived with Lisa Reilich and her family at the Painted Pepper Farm, the country's first all-Nigerian goat dairy. During that time, she earned her *D, her 1*M, her AR, and two quite respectable linear appraisal scores. Currently, Zing has a daughter at Painted Pepper with a similar quality udder and production of four pounds per day as a first freshener...So, we anticipate great mammary and milk potential with our homebred lady and her daughters to come, something that has come to pass with Zing's 2012 daughter, Zelda, and the offspring of her son, Soleil.
Zing's freshening here in 2009 was complicated by a severe case of pneumonia and, as a result, we didn't see the beautiful udder she presented in 2010. We especially like the strength in attachments: her teats point straight down, regardless of the amount of milk she is carrying, and her rear udder is high and wide. Zing is also aging well body-wise, and is still standing on strong legs/feet. She remained a steady milker of 2.5 pounds per day until drying off for the season.
After her 2013 kidding, we retired Zing to live out her days here. Her son, Painted Pepper RJ Soleil*S*B, and daughter, Dawnland Sorcerer's Zelda, remain in our herd to continue her genetic line.

Dixie has many of the characteristics of our herd's original foundation does--who were of good solid Stonewall/Goodwood lines-- and we really admire her strength of bone, body capacity, and stature. We think that she will cross particularly well with our bucks, who are smaller, very refined fellows. Most importantly, Dixie comes from lines that produce capacious udders, strong medials, and big teats, all of which are paramount considerations for our milking herd. She also carries an impressive pedigree, heavy on both Raising Arizona++S and proven milk pail producers from Jobi and Gay-Mor lines.
Dixie is a gorgeous doe body-wise and, although not our strongest milker--producing about three pounds at peak--she distinguishes herself by having one of the best attached udders in the herd, with an especially smooth extended fore, pronounced laterals, a strong medial, and large, plumb easily-milked teats. Now aged seven years, Dixie also continues to be an easy kidder, holding up well in both the conformation and udder departments after six freshenings. Her kids are always good-sized and vigorous--as well as easy on the eyes!
LOST VALLEY TB CHECOTAH Despite hormone treatment, we've been unable to settle Checotah for two years. As of 2013, she now resides with a trusted friend who will continue to work with her.
LOST VALLEY TB CHECOTAH--DOB: 8/06--Due to the vagaries of winter weather and shipping, we had to wait a bit for Checotah, who was reserved prior to her birth. She was well worth the wait, as can be seen by her yearling photo. Checotah's pedigree is full of successful show animals and productive milkers and also contains many of the lines we have been working with for several years. Checotah's style, correct conformation, and wide escutcheon earned her recognition in the show ring as a junior, where she placed first and second in large classes. Photo at Age One Year.

Checotah's dam is a very productive milker who has six Best Udder awards to her credit, as well as eight GCH's, and her sire is similarly blessed with both show wins and high-milking female forebears AND daughters. Many of Checotah's ancestors are closely related to our Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S lines, so it will be interesting to see how both she and her offspring cross with our genetics.
Checotah's first freshening produced buck/doe twins--clones of her and their sire, Rosasharn Tom's Water Tabby*S--as well as an udder that matched that of her dam. Checotah also proved to be an easy (once broken to the milk stand!) milker and productive too: four pounds daily to start. 2010's second freshening brought a repeat of very nice buck/doe twins (sired by TX Twincreeks CAS Patronus*S*B) and more capacity; Checotah is milking between four and five pounds. She continued the twin trend, along with a well-sustained production pattern, for her third freshening in 2011... Another doe we consider to be one of the cornerstones of our breeding program.
Despite hormone treatment, we've been unable to settle Checotah for two years. As of 2013, she now resides with a trusted friend who will continue to work with her. Her 2009 twins by Water Tabby, buck and doe, remain in the Dawnland herd and are producing beautiful kids.
